“Souper Bowl of Caring”
Sunday, February 3 we join thousands of groups to celebrate “Souper Bowl of Caring” Sunday. It utilizes Super Bowl weekend in America to fight hunger and poverty in local communities.
Here is how we are working ours:
1. You can sign up to bring a pot of soup to share after worship on February 3.
2. You can plan to make a cash or check donation.
3. You can plan to bring in non perishable food items. We will form two teams, the “Angels” and the “Saints”. If your last name begins with A through L, you are an Angel. If your last name begins with M through Z, you are a Saint. Find the correct table on the 3rd to place your donation. All food items collected will go to a food pantry at Bethlehem Church in Lake Park and all monies collected will go to our sandwich making ministry which feeds the homeless. Last year you donated $575 with the Saints as the winners. Remember, we are all winners when we support our community!
As our youth group raises money to attend Lutherock camp this summer, they are selling carnations for Valentines Day. Please see the order form inserted in the back of this newsletter. Orders need to be placed by February 3 and will be available for pick up at the church on February 10.
Confirmation and Youth Group
Confirmation classes will be held Sunday February 3rd and 17th at 6:00 p.m. and will be followed by the youth group meeting at 7:00 p.m.
Women’s Love Circle
Nativity’s women’s group, the Love Circle will meet on Monday, February 11 at 9:30 a.m. All women are welcome to attend for Bible Study and fellowship.
Saturday, February 16, join friends and members in the fellowship hall at 9:00 a.m. as we make sandwiches for our neighbors in need. The sandwich and cookie bags assembled will be distributed to St. George’s Center. Men’s Monthly Power Lunch Power Lunch is a new ministry for the men of Nativity Lutheran. Our agenda is simple, food, fellowship, faith and a speaker. Just what you need to power you through to Sunday. Join us at church on Wednesday February 27th from 12-1pm. Lunch will be provided
The Love Circle’s Annual Rummage Sale is coming March 30. Start cleaning out your closets and garages and saving your donations to be brought in the week of the sale. The women’s group uses the money raised to supply altar linens and many other ways to help support the church. The women’s Love Circle supports our church in many ways throughout the year. They have purchased altar linens, choir robes and supported the youth group and WELCA. This past month they purchased new Nativity mugs for our welcome bags and will be keeping those bags set up and ready to hand out to guests that come to worship with us.
Reps Needed We are looking for two people to represent Nativity and attend the Synod Assembly in Orlando June 6-8. We hope to have one male and one female along with Pastor Steve and a youth representative. If you are interested, please talk to Pastor soon so that reservations can be made.
Lent Midweek Service and Soup Suppers
Ash Wednesday is on March 3 and we will have two services for imposition of ashes on that day. There are five Wednesdays between then and Easter week and we will be having soup suppers and service for Lent. Please watch for sign up sheets to bring and share soup.
Painting Party Fundraiser
There will be a special fundraiser event at Hammer and Stain on U.S. 1 in Jupiter on Thursday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. Join us for an amazing fun and fellowship event painting an unique project just for you. Anyone can do this because they create and personalize a stencil just for you. Light refreshments will be provided. You can also bring your own refreshments. The cost is $45 per person and we will get a portion back for each person who registers that will go towards our youth group. Our youth are raising money to pay to go to Camp Lutherock in North Carolina this summer. Come support our youth and create something unique just for you. To register, go to www.hammerandstainpalmbeaches.com. Look for our fundraiser under “private parties”. Deadline to register is March 1.
As our attendance numbers are increasing on Sundays, there are more people staying for fellowship after worship. This is a wonderful problem to have! Is anyone interested in helping with our fellowship ministry? Maybe even partnering up with someone so all the responsibilities aren’t left up to one soul. Go ahead and ask one of our current hosts if you can help them setup and clean or work with them on their next scheduled Sunday. If you would like to bring in food to share, let the next host know in advance.
Our Pre-K 2 & Pre-K 3 students went on a safari hunt with their pith helmets and binoculars made of construction paper last month. They found a lion, AKA Pastor Steve who had a loud roar.
