NATIVITY NEWS

Special Congregation Meeting  Sunday, October 1 following the 9:30 a.m. worship service, all members are asked to attend a special meeting to follow-up discussions at two previous congregation meetings regarding the city’s offer and code violations. Please make every effort to be present at this important meeting. It has critical implications for our congregation’s mission and ministry.

Blessing of the Animals

Please join Pastor Lutze and the preschool students on Wednesday, October 4 at 8:45 a.m. for a brief “Blessing of the Animals”. Bring your pets in cages, on leashes or in a photo form.

Ministry Survey

Last month the call committee mailed a letter along with a Ministry Site Profile to all members and friends of Nativity. You do not need to be a voting member to fill one of these out. This is to help guide our call committee to learn what we would all like in our next pastor. Extra copies are in the loggia along with the box to put completed surveys into.

Plant Help Needed
Do you have a green thumb or just like to play in the dirt? We need someone to help with plants on the front steps. We lost one of the gladiolus plants during Hurricane Irma and the other one is leaning. Can you help?

WOMEN'S LOVE CIRCLE

Meets every second Monday of each month!

Love Circle is one of the many ways for you to be part of Nativity's Family!

SANDWICH MAKING

Please come join us Saturday, October 21st at 9:00 a.m. as we prepare sandwiches to feed the homeless. All hands are welcome to help.

THRIVENT ACTION TEAMS

Thrivent and their members have a fun way to help the community. If you know of a worthy cause, you are encouraged to form a team (3 or more people), apply online and get support from Thrivent. Applicants must request 21 days in advance of the event.  Each member can request seed money of $250 at least twice in a year.  You must apply at Thrivent.com/actionteam and within 5 days you find out if your project is approved.  If it is, you’ll receive resources, and seed money to get started. There is a list of 101 ways to spark action in your community on the bulletin board in the loggia. If you have questions, please go online to Thrivent.com or talk to Sarah Davis or Kari Donnelly.

Thrivent Choice Dollars

Thrivent members please remember to designate where you would like your Choice Dollars to go before the end of the month. If left undesignated, they will go back to administration costs.

SCHOOL REGISTRATION

Openings for our 2017-2018 school term will be filled on a first come first serve basis beginning February 1, 2017. If your child is the age of 4 on or before 9/1/2017, he or she is eligible for the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program. This year you can get the needed certificate online. Please go to family central.org, click/ select Palm Beach County and follow the steps to enroll into the VPK 2017-2018 program year. We also have openings in our Pre-K 2 and Pre-K 3 classes along with early care starting at 7:30am and afercare until 5:30pm.

GIVING DIRECT

Many of us pay our bills online nowadays for convenience.  Your church offerings can also be done directly through your bank. Stop by your bank to see if they can help you set up automatic payments to be sent directly to the church.  This frees you from writing weekly checks and also helps the church with financial stability.

LOOKING FOR A PROJECT?

This year as we have no property council representative, we could use help if anyone is ever interested in running a property work day or helping on any type of project. There are jobs from time to time that require outside help like pressure washing sidewalks, picking up debris and limbs from the outer property, trimming trees, cleaning signs and filling pot holes to name a few. We are currently looking for someone to help with painting. If you are interested in helping with this or any other project, please talk to Pastor. Thank you.

HARMONY HOUSE

We are again collecting for Harmony House, a support home for women and children recovering from abusive situations.  They can use:  women’s clothing, children’s clothing, toiletries for women and children, twin bedding only, small appliances, kitchenware.  NO CANDLES or HALF USED TOILETRIES.  They can also use non-perishable food and paper products.

You’re invited to serve dinner

We are scheduled to serve dinner to our underprivileged neighbors, and families at St. George’s Episcopal community center in Riviera Beach. You are invited to help with this ministry of Nativity. Afterwards, plan to enjoy a “team” dinner, as a group, at a local restaurant.

The “PREP, COOK & SETUP CREW” helps from 4:00 pm to 5:15 pm.

The “SERVE & CLEANUP CREW” helps from 5:00 pm to about 6:30 pm.

Sign up for the entire shift, or one of the 1 1⁄2 hour times. Look for the Sign-up sheet in the Loggia. For our June dinner we had 13 Servant Servers. If you can’t help now, your next opportunity to volunteer this year will be on Friday, Dec. 29.

Any questions, contact Linda or Julius Roehl @561-493-8873; or 561-632-0442 or talkingturkey2@gmail.com
